We have always regarded the quality of our staff as fundamental to the service we offer.

The Team

Philip Brown BA (Hons), Dip PFS, CFPTM, Chartered MCSI, Chartered Wealth Manager is a Director of Scholes & Brown Ltd. He graduated in Economics before joining Lloyds Bank on a fast track management programme. Unfortunately Philip's definition of "fast track" differed from Lloyds' and he left the Bank to begin a long and distinguished career as an Independent Financial Adviser.

Philip is also a Certified Financial PlannerTM and holds a Diploma from the Personal Finance Society (Dip PFS). Both these are high level qualifications gained by examination. Indeed while passing the three exams needed to qualify for Diploma level usually takes several years, in 2001 Philip became the only person in the UK to sit (and pass!) all three exams in the same week. He is too modest to mention this more than twice a week.

Philip is fortunate in being able to combine his family life with a busy and varied working life.  His intention is that this should continue for many years to come.

Bradley is a director of Scholes & Brown Ltd, having joined them in February 2013, prior to which he spent five years at Dickinson Dees Wealth Management, a firm of IFAs which is part of Dickinson Dees Solicitors. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of Solicitors, Accountants and Financial Advisers allowed him  to gain experience dealing with complex investment and taxation matters for individuals, trusts and companies.

Bradley has attained Chartered status. The Chartered designation is the most widely accepted gold standard qualification available for professional financial planners with only around 15% of advisers holding this prestigious title. He also holds a degree in Accountancy and is fully authorized by the Financial Conduct Authority to provide independent investment and pension advice.

In November 2016, Bradley was named Young Achiever of the Year by the Insurance Institute of Newcastle upon Tyne.

A keen sportsman, Bradley enjoys playing football and cycling in his spare time. He is a dedicated Newcastle United supporter and spends every other Saturday afternoon at St James' Park aboard the Toon rollercoaster!

Joanne is our Head of Administration and has been with Scholes & Brown for nearly ten of the twenty years she has worked in financial services. Her previous employers include an international firm of chartered accountants. She has been a tower of strength as the business has grown over the years and we have coped with increased volumes of work. Joanne’s ability to sort out often quite complex administration issues is regularly commended by grateful clients. As a mother to two young daughters, she has to be well organised and enjoys working in a family friendly environment.

Outside of work Joanne enjoys a variety of interests including, keeping fit, reading, baking with her daughters, being outdoors and dining out to name but a few.

Julie joined us with over 20 years' experience in the financial services industry, which includes working for a large, prestigious wealth management company in the City of London and a local independent financial advisor within a firm of chartered accountants. Julie strengthens our existing, experienced administration team and adds further support to the high level of service we always try to provide to our clients.

When recruiting for Julie’s position we immediately felt that she would fit in extremely well with both staff and clients alike – we were right. When not in the office she enjoys walking, eating out and, oddly enough, has an interest in watching American Football both on television and live.

Lynn Graham LL.B (Hons), ACA,  graduated with a law degree from London University and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Accountant. After many years working for large companies, she now works with a number of small and medium sized firms providing accountancy advice and acting as a management consultant.

Lynn's main job is to make sure that our income exceeds expenditure, most of the time at least. She also acts as an excellent sounding board for our business plans.

Siobhan Gallagher

Siobhan Gallagher

Technical Analyst

Siobhan studied at Northumbria University where she graduated in Mathematics and Business Management. After graduating she worked for three years at Bond Dickinson Wealth, a firm of financial advisers that is part of a national law practice. She made quick work of passing all the necessary professional exams to obtain a Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. This was no mean achievement at her age. Siobhan gained valuable skills and knowledge at Bond Dickinson and then decided that, before settling down to focus on her career, she would do some travelling. After spending the last 18 months sampling the delights of life and work across Asia and New Zealand, which she describes as a life-changing experience, she is happy to be back home in the slightly less exotic surroundings of Newcastle. Now wishing to focus on her career once more, Siobhan is delighted (or so she says) to be working with the team at Scholes & Brown. Her role here is to assist the Directors with investment research and report writing, reviewing client portfolios, as well as assisting with the inevitable technical queries that arise from time to time.

Siobhan has an active lifestyle and enjoys the walking commute to and from the Newcastle Quayside each day. Outside work her regular hobbies include yoga, climbing, hiking and photography, to name but a few.
